Yvette Namel with First Tactical Air Force

Yvette Namel, 17-year-old French girl, who lost both her legs as a result of German shellfire in July 44, accepts a Christmas gift of 128,800 francs ($2,576.00) from men of the First Tactical Air Force fighter-bomber group which "adopted" her. Since her injury, Yvette has been under the medical care of Capt. Ralph J. Lenoci, Bridgeport, Conn., one of the group surgeons. Presenting the gift are two of the fighter pilots of the group, Lts. William P. Palmer (left) and Homer C. Gilmer. First expenditure from the fund will be for a pair of artificial limbs.
