Working quickly and efficiently with up-to-date equipment, fire-fighters of the U.S. 8th Air Force fight hazardous flames which enveloped a crashed Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and threatened other aircraft nearby. With their modern equipment the fire fighters are often able to salvage parts of aircraft equipment which would have to be written off as a total loss if the blaze went uncontrolled. Helmeted British firemen join the specially trained U.S. Army men "under fire" in beating the flames.
