Wingo in Italy

M/Sgt. Woodrow J. Wingo of Lexington, South Carolina, a member of Rickenbacker's "Hat in the Ring" squadron of the 15th Air Force based in Italy, poses with a test chest he constructed of salvaged plane parts, a heating unit for controls, pressure pump, circulating hand pump, temperature indicator and an oxygen bottle. It is used to check coolant shutter control valves and the hydraulic systems on Lockheed P-38's.
