Village near Bologna bombed

Calderara Di Reno was a peaceful little Italian village five miles northwest of Bologna, Italy --- until war came its way. German troops moved in, and 12th A.F. Fighter-Bombers attacked the occupied buildings. Now the village church steeple still stands (top right), but most of the homes have been reduced to shambles. This photo was made during an attack by Republic P-47 Thunderbolts of a Fighter Group.
