V-2 near Messinghausen

This is the powerful German rocket known as V-2, as seen from the rear. Note attempts at camouflage. When 1st U. S. Army troops captured the rail yards near Messinghausen, Germany, they discovered the rockets loaded on flat cars, each one requiring nearly two entire cars to carry it. The train was apparently strafed and set afire by allied fighters and it was unable to continue on its journey to the launching sites.
