Two 9th Tactical Air Command pilots renew their association with a German ME 109, this time at much closer range, at a former German air base in France, now operated by a 9th Tactical Air Command fighter group. 1st Lt. Charles L. Katzenmeyer, left, Vicksburg, Miss., has destroyed an ME-109 in the air. 1st Lt. Zell Smith of Monroe, La., right, is credited with one enemy fighter destroyed on the ground.
