Twenty MM Shells from Enemy Fighters Ripped These Gaping Holes

Twenty MM shells from enemy fighters ripped these gaping holes in the trailing edge of the horizontal stabilizer of this Fortress. Two members of the crew were wounded when the ship had to leave the formation and they had to slug it out with the Luftwaffe. The tail gunner although slightly wounded, accounted for two destroyed. Waist gunner was hit in both legs and face by 20mm shells; legs were both broken but the face wounds were superficial.
