Turkeys at Caribbean Air Base
SQUADRON MESS AT A CARIBBEAN AIR BASE. Staff Sergeant John W. Frieage, Kenilworth, Ill. (near Wilmette and Chicago, Ill.) is shown inspecting the huge consignments of turkeys sent to the Caribbean Area for the Air Corps soldiers' Christmas dinner. The highest degree of care is employed in preparing and serving the soldier's traditional "three squares" a day. Ample foodstuffs, containing the proper balance of necessary vitamins, are cooked in modern, well-equipped kitchens and served in clean, well-ventilated mess halls. Frequent inspections are made to ensure the maintenance of food and equipment at high standards.
