"Track-walking" bombs from Boeing B-17's of the Strategic Air Force spear the railroads on the Adriatic near Ancona. Wherever the Huns needed railroads to rush reinforcements south to beat back the Allied landings below Rome, somewhere on these railroads, bombs of the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces found a target that would further cripple Kesserling's hard-pressed transport system. The "sharp-shooting" in the photo was on January 23, one day after the landings.
