This Was the Scene as Three "Snoopers" Consolidated B-24 Liberators

This was the scene as three "Snoopers" Consolidated B-24 Liberators of the "Fightin' 13th" AAF, the jungle AF, shot down out of the sun to bomb and strafe Sanga-Sanga, Jap oil reservoir 45 miles north of Balikpapan, Borneo. The Libs were making their second tree-top-level run over the fuel storage area as this picture was taken. In addition to igniting eight large fuel tanks, the three Libs severed Dondang bridge and its large crude oil pipe line leading to Balikpapan's refineries and sank a cargo vessel in the harbor.
