This Photo of Ortona, on the Adriatic Coast of Italy

This photo of Ortona, on the Adriatic coast of Italy, was made by a reconnaissance pilot of the U. S. Army Air Forces, while the Canadians of the British 8th Army were battling for possession of the town, Three General Sherman tanks may be seen in the street. The lone figure of a man is barely visible at the upper end of the street leading from bottom to top of the photo. At the top of the photo, the mole forming a harbor breakwater has been blasted in numerous places.
