These Were the Chinese Coolie Barracks of the Miri Shop Area

These were the Chinese coolie barracks of the Miri shop area. They were used by the Japs to house the company employees of the Japanese concern which ran the oil-field. The Jap soldiers in the area were garrison troops for the protection of these workers. Second building from the camera was destroyed and several bomb hits can be seen in five remaining buildings. 10 July 1945, Miri, Borneo, N.E.I.
