The occasion is the 105th mission party of the U.S. Eighth Air Force Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress "Stage Door Canteen". M/Sgt. Clarence B. Bankston of Baton Rouge, La., crew chief of the "Stage Door Canteen", eats a piece of the plane's cake given to him by Anna Nagle, cinema-actress. This Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was christened in April 1944 by Mary Churchill, daughter of Britains premier, and has since flown 105 missions and dropped 365 tons of bombs on Germany. Sgt. Bankston, has been crew chief for all 105 of the missions and the cake bears 105 candles.
