Tempelhof Airdrome in Berlin

The target the U. S. Air Force tried not to hit in Berlin, because we wanted it for post-war use, was big, egg-shaped Tempelhof Airdrome. It is now Hq. Berlin Air Command, home base for various AAF units with personnel totaling 2,500. Tempelhof eagle's swastika is shown here yielding to the American emblem.
