Kennedy, Consolidated B-24 Liberator Engineer of 22 Sentinile Rd., Lake Placid, N.Y., is shown wearing the new flek helmet in his Waist Gun Position of a Consolidated B-24 Liberator attached to a Bomb Group. High percentage of injuries during combat are sustained in the Waist Gun areas, and in the head and neck which shows the necessity for this type of protection. Regulation helmet now worn does not give adequate protection to the neck area.
