Surveyors stake runway

The surveyors are the first men out in the field, With transit, stadia board and range pole, they stake out the runway for the heavy equipment. Man at extreme left sights through transit at stadia board at right. Markings on stadia board determine the distance between them. Man in the rear holds range pole upon which transit has already been sighted to determine proper angle.
