Spitfires over 5th Army

ITALY - South African spitfires, carrying single 500 pounders, worked in support of the 5th Army to crack the center of the Gothic line, while American Republic P-47 Thunderbombers were working to support the 7th Army in Southern France. By September's end the Thunderbombers were back in Italy, working with the 5th again.
