Interior of the underground SKF roller bearing plant at Taverny, north of Paris, with FFI guard in foreground. The Nazis attempted to move part of their last roller bearing resources in France to this subterren-ean safety after the 8th AF had penetrated the heavy anti-aircraft de-fenses of occupied Paris three times in September and December 1943, to strike their important plants at Ivry and Bois Colombe in the suburbs of the French capital.
