Singapore floating drydock bombing

BOMBING SINGAPORE'S FLOATING DRYDOCK -- (TOP) The floating drydock at Singapore is seen before it was sunk on Feb. 1, 1945. As this photo was made, it housed a freighter approximately 425 feet long. (CENTER) Heavy black smoke rises from the floating drydock after it is struck. A large patch of oil is spreading around the dock. (BOTTOM) Photo taken a day after the attack by B-29 Superfortresses of Brig. Gen. Roger M. Ramey's 10th Bomber Command shows the drydock submerged and freighter with decks awash. The floating dock which had been built in Great Britain and towed to Singapore was able to accommodate the largest battleship afloat.
