Sikorsky YR-4 Helicopter in Burma

The YR-4, helicopter, while on a rescue mission, ran short of gas as it approached Sinkaling Hkamti, Burma, and set down on a sand bank on the Chindwin River nearby. Fuel was dropped to the helicopter from the L-5 in the right foreground, which then proceeded to land on the sand bank. The helicopter is about to take off with 1st Lt: Irwin C. Steiner, 7845, Cornhill Ave., Chicago, Ill., at the controls.
