Shuri town Okinawa devastated

Devastation to the strongly defended town of Shuri, the center of Japanese resistance as the Allies advanced toward the city of Naha, Okinawa. This damage was a result of ceaseless bombardment by our artillery, mortars, and aerial bombings. The Nips were using houses and industrial buildings of stone and concrete as their defense positions; but they were completely demolished by shells and bombs.
