Sgt Carney in Normandy

First WAC to fly to Normandy is Sgt. Mabel S. Carney, Camden, N.J. She is secretary to a general in SHAEF Hqs. and on the opening of a SHAEF and U.S. Army 9th AF shuttle service between the United Kingdom and Normandy, Sgt. Carney was the first to enter this Douglas C-47 of the 9th ASC which made the initial trip to Cherbourg Peninsula.
