The 9th USAAF bombed this railway bridge at Mantes. This town, just north of Paris, is a bottleneck for Nazi troops and supplies moving to the battle zone from the south and east. Mantes is the site of a railway and a highway bridge crossing the Seine, and an intersection point in line through the Paris-Orleans gap.
