Rail bridge at Magra River crossing
1944-02-18
The Air Plan, "Operation, Strangle", has worked since Feb. 18, 1944 to choke off all means of transporting supplies to the Huns on the Anzio and Cassino Fronts. One down, one to go -- the rail bridge at Magra River crossing, 8 miles east of Spezzia on the line to Leghorn, had already been knocked out when the Marauders went after the road bridge, and its single track rail line on 2 April 44. The bombing was off on this job, only one hit being scored on one end of the bridge.
