RAF glider behind German lines

MUTE EVIDENCE -- Pictured is one of the 1500 transports and gliders which landed troops of the 1st Allied Airborne army behind the German lines in the face of Gen. Montgomery's Rhine-crossing ground forces. This RAF glider crashed into trees lining its appointed landing field and then spread scattered wreckage over the ground. The picture was made from a U.S. 8th AF Second Air Division Consolidated B-24 Liberator as it flew in at 200 feet to drop vital weapons, food and medicines to the waiting Allied Airborne troops below, on 24 March 1945.
