Podgorica before attack

YUGOSLAVIA - Before the attack. The gridiron section of Podgorica, north of a stream leading into the Zeta River, was cleared of its civilian inhabitants and used as barracks for troops of the 21st Mountain Corps. Most of the craters present were caused by bombers of the 15th AAF 5 May 44 and were never filled up. The northwest corner of the gridiron was the first aiming point of the November 5, 1944 operation.
