P51 Mustang at airstrip

Traffic control gun being operated from the edge of the airstrip by a member of the 149th Army Airways Communications System, giving landing instructions to a North American P-51 "Mustang" of the 35th Fighter Group. The strip was not officially opened, but planes had to be landed here since an accident had temporarily put the "regular" landing strip out of operation.
