P38 Pilot Akron Ohio

Lt. Anthony Evans, 785 Exchange St., Akron, Ohio, P-38 Lightning pilot, 14th Fighter Group, 5th Wing, of Maj. General Jimmy Doolittle's Northwest African Strategic Air Force, who has just completed his allotted fifty combat missions. He is a member of the first American fighter group to see action in the North African invasion, and took part in the Tunisian campaign, the bombing of Pantelleria, the Sicilian Campaign, and numerous escort missions with giant, four-engined Flying Fortresses over Italy. He has been awarded the Air Medal and 8 Oak Leaf Clusters and has 4 ME-109's to his credit.
