P38 Lightnings strafe train Remy France
1944-08-02
On 2 August 1944 a tremendous explosion rocked the village of Remy, France, when four U. S. Eighth Air Force Lockheed P-38 "Lightnings" of the 364th Fighter Group, strafed a munitions and troop train which had pulled into a switching track in the village. Here, is a line of wheels that was on a section of the train carrying the troops. The section which carried the munitions disappeared, leaving no trace of the train or tracks.
