P-47 Thunderbolts in Liverpool

RE-DEPLOYMENT -- FIGHTER PLANES.. After dis-assembly and taping, the now dingy looking Republic P-47 Thunderbolts are hauled through the streets of Liverpool to the docks. This is a touchy business for many spots on the eight mile trip from Speke to the docks have been made just wide enough to permit passage by chopping down trees and moving light poles. No possible route can accomodate the wing span of either a P-47 Thunderbolt or a P-51 Mustang so the above "Side-saddle" rig was contrived and remains the only solution. The trucks are American lend-lease.
