Moon's 404th fighter-bomber group of the 9th A.F. accustomed to working under handicaps at advanced airstrips, now enjoy the best of facilities, thanks to the German retreat. Photo shows P-47 Thunderbolts undergoing maintenance at the 404th base deep in Germany. The Luftwaffe abandoned the field, leaving hangars and repair facilities in good condition.
