Service personnel of Lt. Col. Leo C. Moon's 404th fighter-bomber group of the 9th AF, accustomed to working under handicaps at advanced airstrips, now enjoy the best of facilities, thanks to the German retreat. Photo shows Republic P-47 Thunderbolts undergoing maintenance at the 414th's base deep in Germany. The Luftwaffe abandoned the Field, leaving hangars and repair facilities in good condition.
