P-40 Shark in Flying Horse Group

Members of the "Assam Dragon" squadron of the "Flying Horse" group exercise traditional American ingenuity in getting their mail. Stowing a mail bag in the belly tank of a Curtis P-40 "Shark" are S/Sgt. John R. Armstrong of Eagle River, Wisc., and Sgt. Roland Cheavacci of Bloomingdale Ave., Akron, N.Y. The belly tank mailbag was contrived to supplement few and far between mail deliveries at some fields, enlisted men of the squadron repairing a battered tank and making a detachable contrivance by utilizing bailing wire and hinges from bomb boxes.
