P-39 Airacobra in New Guinea

Advance Echelon, Fifth Air Force, Somewhere in New Guinea. A Bell P-39 Airacobra fighter plane purchased by contribution by the students of Union-Endicott Public School, Endicott, N.Y. has been delivered to a pursuit outfit in New Guinea and assigned, appropriately enough, to a pilot from New York. He is Captain Marion J. Wood of Willard, N.Y. He is shown with the plane on the line at an advanced base.
