Lt. Fredrick J. Bitter, 431 W. Wayne St., Butler, Pa., P-38 Lightning pilot of the 14th Fighter Group, 5th Wing, has been awarded the Air Medal and 7 Oak Leaf Clusters. He has completed his allotted fifty combat missions over enemy terri-tory and is a member of the first American fighter group to see action in the North African invasion. He has to his credit 1 ME-109 probably destroyed and 1 ME-109 damaged.
