Factories, railroad repair sheds, warehouses are around every port. Leghorn, third largest port in Italy, was no exception. All those installations made ripe targets for Operation Strangle. When the 5th Army marched in, they found that the Air Forces had been there ahead of them -- 50 times since 1 Jan 44.
