"ONE MAN WAR"--That's the new name for S/Sgt. James Hamilton, 21, of Joycetown, Kentucky, pictured showing his fragment-punctured helmet to nurse Lt. Margaret Stewart of West Milton, Pennsylvania. Tail gunner Hamilton of the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress "Bad Penny," is credited with destroying at least eight Nazi planes, a new record, in the great January air battle-attack on Oschersleben. In the three hour fight, S/Sgt. Hamilton was knocked unconscious by the 20 mm shell fragment. He revived however, and despite weakness from loss of blood, kept firing until his Fort was clear.
