Oil dump fire at Duisburg

In the closing days of March, 1945, this billowing cloud of black smoke from the huge fire at a camouflaged oil dump at Duisburg, Germany sailed aloft on four different days as the long range artillery repeatedly set it afire. Just one of several oil storages hit in the Reich. It is one typical reason why the German war machine was bled of its strength.
