Nippon Aluminium Co Plant at Takao

Nippon Aluminum Co. Plant, at Takao, Formosa, covers 2,400,000 sq. ft. Numbers refer to probable sequence of the various steps in the production of aluminum ingots and include (1) raw materials, (2) bauxite storage, (3) crusher and digester, (4) filter building, (5) precipitation tanks, (6) rotary kilns, (7) pot rooms and electrolysis and (8) carbon plant. A small power plant is at (P) and the rectifier buildings and transformers, highly important as a bombing target due to the large amounts of electricity which must be brought in, are indicated by (E). Also of high importance is the technical equipment in the building housing the precipitation tanks and filters. Production stops here at the ingot stage since there is no rolling mill nor my sheets or other aluminum products visible. First reports were that this plant turned out 12,000 tons of alumina and 6,000 tons of aluminum annually but addition of new units may have doubled this.
