Ninth Air Force Pilots in Belgium

Three Ninth Air Force fighter-bomber pilots from California, who shot down five FW-190's among them during the first day of von Rundstedt's counter offensive, compare notes in the squadron ready room in Belgium. They are, left to right: first man unkown; 2d Lt. Charles E. Nelson, Huntington; and 2d Lt. Jimmie M. Jernigan, San Diego, Calif. The last two men are credited with destroying two planes each.
