Mitchell bombers off Paramushiru

JAP CHASER SUNK OFF PARAMUSHIRU, when Mitchell bombers of the U.S. Army 11th Air Force caught a pair of the 100-foot craft five miles off the northern tip of Paramushiru Island, and within close range of the enemy's coastal defenses and air fields at Kashiwabara Bay. Note the initial splash of the 500-pound bomb dropped by the North American B-25 as it sped over the enemy ship at mast head level.
