Martin B-26 Marauders at Cassino

THEY STOLE THE SHOW was the tribute paid to the Martin B-26 Marauders by Lt. Gen. Ira C. Eaker, Commanding General of the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces, for the part the Martin B-26 played in the 15 March 44 bombardment of Cassino. But Cassino was a special job, not the one they liked and did best. Their main job in February, March, and April was the operation called "Strangle" -- the cutting of all lines of supply that the Huns needed to support his armies on the Anzio and Cassino fronts. Bombardiers of the Marauders knew that when they cut a bridge, they hurt the Hun not only at a single point, but on the whole front.
