Marine wounded on Okinawa front

A Marine, wounded in chest and head, awaits air evacuation by aircraft of 163rd Liaison Squadron from Okinawa front. Marine is aided in breathing by aviators oxygen mask and supply bottle. The bottle, with attached hose and mask, is fastened behind pilot so that he may regulate flow of oxygen to wounded man. Idea for apparatus originated by Lt. C. V. Shireman of 163rd Liaison Squadron when need arose for men wounded in chest to have pure oxygen while being trans-ported to hospital.
