March 1945--Mud and water are a big hazard for men of the IX Engineer

March 1945 -- Mud and water are a big hazard for men of the IX Engineer Command building this Airstrip in Germany for 9th Air Force fighter-bombers. Here they run lines from a pump in an effort to dispose of some of the surplus water. First strip built on the enemy's soil is now being used by the planes flying in support of the ground forces on the Rhine.
