"ON THE BUTTON", bombs from the Marauders of the Sardinia-based units of First Tactical Air Force smash the double-track rail bridge at Fano on the Adriatic Coast. The Air Plan called "Operation Strangle", designed to choke off all the supply lines that support the German armies on the Anzio and Cassino Fronts, began operating on February 18, 1944 called for cuts in every major bridge in Central Italy.
