Major (then capt) William E. Smith, 485 Central Ave., Hapeville, Ga., said to be the best bombardier in the Ninth AF, repairs clothing ravaged by rats as his recently requisitioned "combat cat," (Joan L. Sullivan,) observes. Major Smith, a Martin B-26 Marauder bombardier has flown on more than 88 missions, 61 as lead bombardier and has personally dropped more than 300,000 pounds of the more than 4,000 tons loosed by his group.
