Major Brown over Vienna

Major Sam J. Brown, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Commanding Officer of the 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group, gives the "Thumbs Up" sign before he left on a mission over Vienna, Austria, 13 June 1944, during which he shot down four enemy fighters. To date Major Brown has flown thirty-two combat missions in North American P-51s and seventeen missions in Spitfires with a total of thirteen enemy planes. All missions were flown with the 15th AAF based in Italy.
