Luftwaffe planes in Germany

These tail sections of German Air Force planes in Germany are all that remain of a portion of the once powerful Luftwaffe. The 492nd Air Service Group of the 9th AF, commanded by Lt. Col. Alan D. Catterall, of Garden City, L. I., N.Y., is collecting and dismantling Luftwaffe equipment, under the extensive air disarmament program being conducted by the units of the 2nd Air Disarmament Wing, of the 9th AF Service Command.
