Luftwaffe plane parts at 9th AF base

The wing section held by 2d Lt. Melvin B. Paisley, Portland, Oregon, (left) and the cannon grasped by 2d Lt. John J. Kennedy, Galesburg, Ill., were part of a Luftwaffe plane shot down by the 9th AF pilots during an enemy air raid on their base in Belgium. Lt. Paisley shot down four, and Lt. Kennedy knocked down one of the attackers.
