Lt. Richard P. Sulzbach of 1706 Rebecca St., Sioux City, Iowa grins as he recalls the terrifying experience to Lt. Col. Harold J. Whiteman, 739 W. Lynwood Ave., San Antonio, Texas. Lt. Sulzbach while on a strafing mission flew too low and was forced to fly through a clump of trees badly damaging the wings and fuselage of his Republic P-47 Thunderbolt.
